Put the words 'social', Facebook, or Web 2.0 in the title of any higher education conference session and you are guaranteed a standing room only crowd (a tactic yours truly is taking early next week at SACAC in Raleigh...if you're coming, don't miss my session on How Students Actually Use Social Technologies).
In our research, though, colleges and universities are approaching the social networking movement as a silver bullet and are unfortunately applying the same tired recruitment marketing playbook that they've been using for decades. We looked at 62 college and university Facebook profiles and asked prospective students about their experience. To read more about what we found and how to make the most of the Facebook recruitment phenomenon, request a copy of our latest white paper, How to Lose Friends and Alienate Students.
